Tras licenciarse en Historia en la Universidad de Deusto, estudi\u00f3 Historia del Arte en el prestigioso Courtauld Institute de Londres. Desde entonces, su trayectoria ha sido un viaje continuo, una vida en movimiento en el entramado del arte y la cultura. Fue responsable de la colecci\u00f3n del Museo Balenciaga y, tras un a\u00f1o al frente del Instituto Vasco Etxepare, en 2018 fue nombrada directora del Palais Galliera, el museo de la moda de Par\u00eds. Tras siete a\u00f1os, regresa a casa para asumir la direcci\u00f3n del Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao. Aunque hablar de regreso quiz\u00e1s no sea del todo preciso, pues quien nunca se ha ido, tampoco necesita volver.<\/p>\n<p>La mirada de Arzalluz, enraizada en Euskal Herria y proyectada hacia el mundo, es amplia y plural. Una forma de ver que concibe la cultura como ese tejido invisible que da cuerpo y forma a la sociedad, tanto en un vestido dise\u00f1ado por Balenciaga como en un lienzo que imagina un mundo nuevo. Como una obra del pintor bilba\u00edno Antonio Gezala, de Frida Kahlo, o propuestas m\u00e1s contempor\u00e1neas, como la exposici\u00f3n YOU de Vito Acconci y Sergio Prego, que ha presentado recientemente como directora del Guggenheim y que podr\u00e1 visitarse hasta septiembre de 2025. La cultura es, en esencia, un lenguaje: comunica, cuestiona y, a veces, ayuda a encontrar respuestas.<\/p>\n<p>En el Museo de la Moda de Par\u00eds supo desvelar relatos \u00edntimos a trav\u00e9s de las prendas, en una enmara\u00f1ada madeja de revoluci\u00f3n, identidad y sue\u00f1os. Balenciaga y Chanel, Dior y Margiela, artistas que se expresan a trav\u00e9s de texturas, siluetas y el espacio. Arzalluz sabe tejer arte y humanidad. Sabe que ser vasca y pertenecer al mundo son dos caras de la misma moneda. Es evidente que el contexto pol\u00edtico tendr\u00e1 un impacto significativo en las instituciones culturales de los Estados Unidos\u00bb, subraya Arzalluz. Cuando los tiempos se ensombrecen, queda m\u00e1s claro que nunca el papel esencial que la cultura y sus instituciones desempe\u00f1an en la sociedad: &#8216;Una de las oportunidades que nos ofrece la cultura es la resistencia\u201d, afirma.<\/p>\n<p>El Museo no es una empresa, ni as\u00ed lo concibe Arzalluz. Para ella, es un organismo vivo, en constante di\u00e1logo, que entrelaza arte y sociedad, pasado y futuro, lo local y lo global, uniendo todo en un mismo tejido. \u201cAcabo de asumir el cargo. Me encuentro en una fase de reflexi\u00f3n con los diferentes equipos, pero pronto compartiremos las l\u00edneas principales para el futuro\u201d, explic\u00f3 Arzalluz en su primera presentaci\u00f3n como directora.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>No es casualidad \u2014es casi po\u00e9tico\u2014 que su trayectoria est\u00e9 hilvanada, retazo a retazo, con moda, arte, cultura e identidad. El Guggenheim no es un destino final, sino el umbral de nuevos horizontes.
